Invitation 2010

Come to OPEN HOUSE HVAR this summer!

2010 invite

A happening that brings together dreamers, builders and those in-between to a beautiful place, to rest, create, play, and explore the ways of living in a more balanced and beautiful way.

Open House Hvar will run for two weeks from Wednesday 21st July to Wednesday 4th August 2010. During this period, there will be many activities organised: mosaic-making, fresco painting, laying a limecrete floor, planting a Mediterranean garden, building a solar cooker etc.

This will be balanced out by more chilled occupations such as lying on the beach, drinking local wine, and other such activities, popular in these parts in the summer. There is sure to be an opportunity to try out sailing on our dinghy Lizzy-Anne, too. Workshops, performances, barbeque parties, and full moon beach party are also in the bag.

This is intended to be a creative gathering and if some of you would be willing to offer some of your time to helping with house building that will be great. Last year we did a lot; there is a basic shell of the house, (floors, roof, windows, toilet, water) but many finer and more detailed works are still waiting. Check out the programme which will develop over the next few months.

However, if you can’t or don’t want to join in the house works, it would be great to see you and join you in rest and relaxation by the beach. Hvar is a place of stunning beauty, and we are looking forward to sharing those special summer moments with you.

If you want to stay in our house in Vrisnik this will be pretty basic dormitory style sleeping but there’s also a lot of other options from campsites, self-catering up to hotels in nearby Jelsa and Stari Grad. See the accommodation page.

If you can come overland by train, car or bus that would be great.  See the travel page. We suggest you book soon if you want to fly as prices tend to go up quite a lot in the next few months.

We really hope you can make it and please drop us a line with any questions you have. For any suggestions for activities or if anyone is willing to lead, please look at the helping out page.
